You know, I didn’t really expect Yves Saint Laurent to go along with the stud trend. Their bags are so consistently understated and sleek that I didn’t think they’d subscribe to such an edgy and obvious trend, but I was wrong, and very happily so.

The base of the bag is one that we’re all very familiar with – YSL has done a million and one things with it over the past few seasons and has produced more iterations than I’ve been able to keep track of (the stamped sequin version has been my favorite until now). It follows logically that if they were going to chase a trend, they’d do it with this bag as the root of the design, since it’s the shape that they use as a canvas most often. Instead of spreading the studs throughout the bag, they’re all concentrated on the stitched Y-shape in the middle of the bag, and they’re not the studs that we’ve been seeing from other designers for fall. Instead of grungy looking and industrial, they’re smooth, flat, shiny silver circles that fit easily into the minimalist bags that we’ve seen from them lately.

They’ve taken the trend and made it their own, and I’d love to have this bag in my closet.

Talk about a departure from the expected. When I think of Marni, I think of clean lines and geometric shapes, but this Marni bag is entirely different. Fur. Yes, an entire bag covered in alpaca fur from the designer who typically brings us the cleanest colors, lines, and looks.I have never craved to have a handbag covered in fur and I feel the same after seeing the Marni Alpaca Tote. Covered in gray alpaca fur, this tote has a thick industrial-like silver tone chain handle. When shown on the model, the chain looks like one you would find on a farm, not a designer handbag. I don’t doubt the alpaca is decadent but it is just not for me. Are you digging this alpaca bag from Marni?

Lanvin is my new obsession. After I saw the Lanvin Happy Partage Metallic Bag I could not stop picturing myself with that bag. Jeans and a white tee, little black dress, skirt. You name it, I pictured myself with it.

Then I saw the Lanvin Wrinkled Shoulder Bag, and while I did not fall head over heels as I did with the other, I still felt love. Lanvin just continues to get it right. Their bags are quirky, colorful, multi-dimensional. I want one. I need one.

The wrinkled lambkin gives an extra dimension to the bag. Without it, the bag is still stunning and I suspect many of you would prefer the bag without the wrinkles. I may be wrong, tell me what you think. The matte gold hardware looks beautiful against the taupe lambskin. Of course there is the signature blue ribbon handle with coin and large ribbon detail.
